EU AI Act — Transparency & Synthetic Content Disclosure
Last updated: June 16, 2026
Effective: August 2, 2026 (EU AI Act Article 50)
Overview
This page describes how RedGifs AI complies with the transparency obligations set out in Article 50 of the EU Artificial Intelligence Act (Regulation (EU) 2024/1689), which applies from August 2, 2026.
These obligations apply to any operator deploying an AI system that interacts with natural persons or generates synthetic content, regardless of where the operator is established, where the system serves users located in the European Union.
1. AI Identity Disclosure
In accordance with Article 50(1) of the EU AI Act, users interacting with RedGifs AI are informed that they are communicating with an artificial intelligence system and not a human being.
This disclosure is made:
- At the point of onboarding, via a consent banner displayed before a user may access the platform, which requires the user to acknowledge that all characters and conversations on RedGifs AI are generated by artificial intelligence
- Persistently throughout the platform, via visible labeling that all characters appearing on the platform are AI-generated and do not represent real individuals
- Within our Terms of Service, which states that conversations with AI companions are generated by artificial intelligence and do not represent real individuals or entities
Our AI systems are programmed and designed to never:
- Claim to be a human being when sincerely asked
- Deny being an artificial intelligence system
- Contradict or undermine any disclosure that the user is interacting with AI
2. Synthetic Content Labeling
In accordance with Article 50(2) and Article 50(4) of the EU AI Act, RedGifs AI labels all AI-generated synthetic content in a clear and distinguishable manner. The following content types on our platform are entirely AI-generated and are treated as synthetic content for the purposes of the EU AI Act:
Text / chat responses. All conversational responses generated by our AI companion system are synthetic content produced by large language model technology. No responses are authored by human beings. This is disclosed at onboarding and via persistent platform labeling.
AI-generated images. All character images and AI-generated visual content on the platform are produced by generative AI image models. No images depict real individuals. Images are labeled as AI-generated within the platform interface. Where technically feasible, AI-generated images include machine-readable metadata identifying them as synthetic content, consistent with the Coalition for Content Provenance and Authenticity (C2PA) standard or equivalent.
AI-generated audio / voice. All voice and audio content generated on the platform is produced by AI voice synthesis technology and does not represent the voice of any real individual. Audio outputs are identified as AI-generated within the platform interface.
AI-generated video. All video content generated on the platform is produced by generative AI video technology and does not depict real individuals or real events. Video outputs are identified as AI-generated within the platform interface.
3. AI System Description
In accordance with Article 50 transparency obligations, the following describes the types of AI systems used on the RedGifs AI platform:
Conversational AI. RedGifs AI uses large language model (LLM) technology to generate adaptive, human-like conversational responses. The system is designed to simulate ongoing companionship and is capable of sustaining dialogue across multiple interactions.
Image generation. RedGifs AI uses generative AI image models to produce visual representations of AI characters. All images are synthetically generated and do not depict real people.
Voice synthesis. RedGifs AI uses AI voice synthesis technology to generate audio representations of AI characters. All voices are synthetically generated and do not represent real individuals.
Video generation. RedGifs AI uses generative AI video technology to produce animated or video representations of AI characters. All video content is synthetically generated.
Safety systems. RedGifs AI operates automated safety detection systems that monitor conversations for expressions of crisis, self-harm, or distress, and trigger appropriate interventions. See our Safety & Crisis Protocol for full details.
Content guardrails. RedGifs AI operates content generation controls that prevent the AI from producing certain categories of content regardless of user instruction, including content that encourages self-harm or involves minors.
4. Limitations of Our AI Systems
Users should be aware of the following limitations of our AI systems:
- AI-generated content may occasionally be inaccurate, inconsistent, or unexpected in its outputs
- Our AI systems do not have genuine emotions, consciousness, feelings, or subjective experiences
- Our AI systems cannot provide professional mental health, medical, legal, or financial advice
- Our AI systems do not retain memory of conversations beyond the scope described in our Privacy Policy
- Responses are generated by AI and do not reflect the views, opinions, or intentions of any real person
5. Consent Banner
The following language is presented in the platform's onboarding consent banner to satisfy Article 50(1) disclosure requirements at the point of interaction:
All characters, conversations, images, audio, and video on RedGifs AI are generated by artificial intelligence. You are interacting with an AI system, not a human being. By continuing, you confirm that you are 18 years of age or older and agree to our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.
This text appears before the user can access any platform content and requires an affirmative acknowledgment before proceeding.
